History

In 1984, the Lord put on the hearts of several families to plant a church in Sanger, Texas.

They had thrived while being part of Denton Bible Church but felt a burden to have a like-minded church in the town they called home. The Lord answered this prayer by planting Grace Bible Church under the leadership of Rich Cozart. Over the next two decades, the church went through several changes under two other pastors, but the biblical values remained constant. In the late 1990s, Grace was left without a pastor and only a handful of members. It was during this time that some members of GBC reached back out to DBC and asked it to supply a new pastor for the church it had helped plant. The Lord used this opportunity to send James Arnold to pastor Grace in this season. The church experienced a new lease on life under James’ pastorate and later under John Brown. Tommy Bosworth was privileged to intern under both of these godly men and became the lead pastor in 2012.

In early 2025, Tommy Bosworth began to transition into a new season of ministry as a chaplain in the United States Navy. Through prayer and the help of like-minded churches, GBC was led to Brian Herz. He was serving at Trinity River Baptist Church of Fort Worth and aspiring to pastor a church. Brian’s heart for expository preaching, discipleship, and Christ-centered community resonated deeply with the long-held values of GBC. On September 1, 2025, Brian Herz became the new lead pastor. We pray that, by the Lord’s grace, we may continue the good work that has been handed down to us.
